The Way of a Ship on the High Seas
“There are three things that are too amazing for me, four that I do not understand:
the way of an eagle in the sky,
the way of a snake on a rock,
the way of a ship on the high seas,
and the way of a man with a maiden.
Proverb 30:18-19

The Proverb speaks of the writer's amazement at how things work in God's creation. I understand and appreciate his amazement and his poetry. The poetry of it is lovely.

Each is amazing and beautiful. I was entranced by bald-eagles in flight this past summer. I marvel at how snakes moves over rocks. I'm enthralled by how boats move through wind and water. The ending with man and maiden speaks of how wonderful relationship can be between a man and a woman which starts out very simple and becomes perhaps the deepest and most spiritual of all relationships. The mutual sharing is intimate. The life they build is enduring. The children they create together are their joy. I'm just captivated by this the writer's verse!
